Station 9 was established in Spring 2017 to improve response times in one of the fastest growing areas in the city. Housed at Station 9 is Engine 9, Engine 209, Truck 9, Rescue Ambulance 9, Mobile Ventilation Unit 9, and Reserve Rescue 509.
Engine 9
Engine 9 is a 2017 Pierce Arrow XT. As the role for the primary engine company continues to evolve, the department sought to continue to provide the highest amount of protection for the citizens of Castle Beach. This led to the slight re-design of the apparatus that make up the task force. With EMS responses increasing by an alarming rate, FDCB is not only adding ambulances to the fleet, but all primary engines will now be stocked with ALS (Advanced Life Support) Equipment. These will be stored in the compartment directly behind the cab for easy access. Storage of these medicines and life-saving equipment was originally designed to be stored in the cab, but the vast amount of supplies prevented this from taking place. The front compartment is an ideal place to put these supplies due to easy accessibility for the crew.

Engine 209
Engine 209 has a long history in which the apparatus formerly served Sequoia Fire Department as Engine 1 and was first due for all structural calls. Ironically, Engine 209 was originally a Castle Beach Fire Department engine company that never saw service because of a manufacturer's error. So it was returned to KME and the department went to the next bidder, Pierce MFG. At the same time, Sequoia Fire Department was looking to replace their 22 year old Ford/FMC engine company. When they heard that FDCB was returning the KME engine, Sequoia Fire Chief Brampton inquired about the possibility to acquire the returned engine. After negotiations, KME and Sequoia Fire Department were able to come to an agreement where KME would make several changes to fit the department's protocol and Sequoia Fire Department would acquire the apparatus at a lower cost than the original price. In late 2016, the city of Sequoia was integrated into the city of Castle Beach and this particular apparatus ironically became a Castle Beach fire engine. Engine 209 was originally designated as Engine 6, before moving to 9 house.

Truck 9
Truck 9 was also established in mid 2017 as a second truck company in Battalion 3's district to alleviate the call load at both Station 5 and Station 9. With Squad 5 and Truck 5 running quite frequently into 9's area, it was determined that an additional light force was needed. Truck 9 will run in tandem with Engine 209 as Light Force 9. When the apparatus committee looked at buying a new tiller, the cost and wait time was too much for the department. Hence, it was necessary to look at used vehicles. As it turned out, this particular apparatus happened to show up the same day our apparatus committee visited the dealer. Although the rig is a little more than 10 years old, the aerial truck was in good condition when the Department purchased the rig.

Rescue Ambulance 9
Rescue Ambulance 9 is a 2017 Ford F-450 model on a Type I Braun body. Staffed by 2 firefighter/paramedics, these ambulances are the beginning of the city takeover for EMS calls, as the previous private contractor did not renew their contract with the city. To ensure that the city will not lose coverage during the transition period, various private ambulance services will continue to run in Castle Beach until the fleet is built up. As a certified ALS transport unit, the ambulance is stocked with a wide variety of life saving equipment such as an Life Packs, AED, defibrillator, various backboards and immobilization equipment, and medicines such as epinephrine and Narcan.
