Station 2 was formed in 1950 to protect the growing downtown area. Today, Station 2 is located on Main St. and responds first due to many of the tallest buildings in the city including the 50-story Duplo Trading Company. In addition, Station 2 can readily access the many freeways, making it a prime location for the Heavy Rescue and US&R teams.
Apparatus stationed here are Engine 2, Engine 202, Truck 2, Rescue 2, US&R 2, Rescue Platform 2, Heavy Rescue 2, Rescue Ambulance 2, Battalion 2, Command 2, Reserve Engine 503, Reserve Engine 504, Reserve Truck 502. The nickname "Quantum Leap" is derived from the fact that all frontline apparatus are on the Pierce Quantum Chassis.

Rescue Ambulance 2
Rescue Ambulance 2 is a 2017 Ford F-450 model on a Type I Braun NW body. Staffed by 2 firefighter/paramedics, these ambulances are the beginning of the city takeover for EMS calls, as the previous private contractor did not renew their contract with the city. To ensure that the city will not lose coverage during the transition period, various private ambulance services will continue to run in Castle Beach until the fleet is built up. As a certified ALS transport unit, the ambulance is stocked with a wide variety of life saving equipment such as an Life Packs, AED, defibrillator, various backboards and immobilization equipment, and medicines such as epinephrine and Narcan.

Fast Response 2
The brand new Fast Response vehicles have now been placed in service! To assist with the ever growing number of EMS calls, Castle Beach Fire Department has placed these two fast response vehicles at Stations 1 and 2. These apparatus are not only equipped for EMS, but also for fire and rescue since the FRs have forcible entry tools, high rise packs, and a combi tool. The two FF/Paramedics that staff each unit can be utilized as needed during an incident. These nimble units were also designed to support technical rescue operations with use of the crane. Although not as large as the one found on the heavy rescue, these smaller cranes can assist in hillside rescues where the larger rotator cannot access.

Occasionally, US&R 2 and Heavy Rescue 2 are special called by the incident commander for their unique tools and tactics involving trapped individuals. Some of the special equipment that US&R 2 carries includes a Res-Q-Vac system for trench/collapse rescues, a full complement of Paratech struts and airbags for stabilization and lifting heavy objects, and battery operated Holmatro extraction equipment for use in confined space rescues.

Reserve Engine 503
Reserve Engine 503 is one of several reserve engines that Castle Beach operates. RE503 is a 2007 Pierce Arrow XT and marked the switch to a new engine layout featuring all roll up compartments and the removal of the ground ladders on the curb side. The department experimented with having a ground ladder rack, but engines purchased after 2009 ultimately had internal ladder compartments as motorized ladder racks required space to deploy and additional time to retrieve the ladders. Reserve Engine 503 is housed at Station 2 alongside Reserve Engine 504 and Reserve Truck 502.

Reserve Engine 504
Reserve Engine 504 is part of the first batch of engines that received full height roll up compartments on both sides of the rig. Originally the last of four engines delivered in 2006, RE504 saw action at Station 3 and 6 before being transitioned to a reserve role in 2014. Two of the four engines were donated to a department in Mexico, while the other also became a reserve engine. Unfortunately, that engine was totaled when it was a drunk driver hit the fire truck as it blocked a scene on the Interstate. RE504 is housed at Station 2 along with RE503 and RT502

Reserve Truck 502
Reserve Truck 502 serves as the second reserve truck in the city and is quite unique as it is the first quint the department ever purchased. During the trial phase in 1995, this apparatus took the place of both the truck company and the wagon (light force engine) at several high volume stations. However, this concept did not prove to be efficient, and the tiller quint was placed out of service one month into the trial. This truck was then placed in the reserve truck pool for a couple years, then moved back to frontline status when Truck 3’s Pierce Dash TDA was involved in an accident in 2004 and remained in that role until 2007. It had since been a reserve truck ever since.

Battalion Chief 2
The new Battalion Chief vehicles have arrived! Castle Beach originally purchased four RAM 3500 4x4 pickups to replace the Chevy Suburbans. After the order was placed, Mt. Studstown and Pasalego were able to tag onto the order and thus save time and money. One of the biggest additions to the battalion chief vehicles is the NightScan Powerlite, which was a popular request.
